Tree maintenance for Strawberry Field Salvation Army visitor centre

We manage, maintain large sites which have large public footfall.  Visitor sites need inspections by qualified tree surgeons. North West Landscapes Ltd tree surgeons work with independent tree survey reports for larger clients. On this Strawberry Field site, a 20% reduction in tree mass was called for.  We thinned some trees, removed ivy from trunks, felled and dismantled some trees which were dead.

Top heavy trees which are diseased act as sails in high winds. Structural integrity deficits or weak limbs have a very high risk of falling unexpectedly. Sensible maintenance extends the life of older trees by reducing wind stresses.

Excellent Communication is essential

John Hughes, our site liaison manager at North West Landscapes Ltd, here on site at Strawberry Field, Woolton, Liverpool, talks about the importance of personal contact with clients on site. He underlines our distinctive approach. By building great client relationships on sites, we make sure we're attentive to clients needs each visit. Getting to know clients personally, giving his personal mobile telephone number to clients, they know they can call John even when they are not due a site visit.  HAs something come up that urgently needs tackling? Call John, he will show flexibility, see if the work schedules allow, shift work around to meet pressing client needs.

We were called in by Hugh Baird College in Litherland, to remove a diseased lime tree, 18 metres tall which presented a threat to home owners and vehicle traffic, in Litherland, Crosby.
This video documents the staged removal of large upper branches, securely roped. These were then controlled-lowered by three man teams. The video also shows the use of a 'crash-mat' for larger lower trunk sections of the tree. Crash mats are created from tree debris and serve as a vital way avoid damage to hard landscaping, such as public pavements or built environments within a campus location.

Tree Removal near high voltage railway power line Liverpool L18

Tree surgeons from North West Landscapes Ltd were called out to this silver birch tree. It needed removing to allow site access. Beyond standard risks of tree work, this tree was right next to the main Liverpool railway line at Penny Lane, Mossley Hill, Liverpool 18. It wasn't a large tree but the task of removing the tree had risk of cut branches falling into the path of the main overhead rail power line.
